Damn I lost about 28whp from stock because the JRSC manifold sucks big A$$. I originally dynoed at 143.3whp @ 104 ft-lbs, at 0psi the car dynoed at 115.6whp @ 85ft-lbs
At 4psi w/ MSD6BTM @ 0.50, I gained all the power back plus some torque[/b]:
This is at 4psi w/ BTM @ 1:
6psi:
6psi w/ BTM @ 1:
The graph is very uneven because we had software problems controlling the boost precisely combined with a slipping clutch and 17" rims. These problems with the software have already been addressed and I will redyno in a couple of weeks. I can't believe software glitches appear at the most inopportune time. Murphy's Law lives! The boost controller caused about a 15-20whp reduction from the expected power. Most if not all the runs were at 7700rpm because we just wanted to see the boost holding capabilities of the boost controller. If you extrapolate the runs to 8100 it will yield more peak whp. I wasn't really concerned with that at this session. All the runs were back to back which caused some heatsoak thus lowering peak whp.
The baseline fuel pressure was too rich as it was set at 62psi at 0 vacuum. I increased it from the usual 55psi, since I wanted to be safe. The extra fuel caused some mild detonation at various rpms, which the plugs showed some soot. It was interesting to observe lean and rich conditions both cause detonation. The only engine mods are the JRSC/colder plugs, I/H/E are stock, and timing @ 16BTDC. BTW, the J&S was set at around 11-12 o'clock. The temperature was at 85-90 degrees that day.
The next dyno session will include possible I/H/E mods, A/F wide band sensor during the dyno session, plus boost numbers at 8 and 10psi. I'm hoping for about 210-220 peak whp @ 8-10psi. Damn, I thought the engine was tuned somewhat, I guess I was wrong. The dyno doesn't lie huh?!?

Is it a turbo boost control you use?

What type of control algorithm are you trying zip something as simple as a proportional controller or closer to a Proportional-Integral-Derivative Control loop? Just curious because you are getting a lot of ringing which indicates one of two or more things. Either the controller cannot cycle your bypass quickly enough (maybe), or your Integral part of the control algorithm is too large and it is inducing ringing (opening and closing to fast). Just some thoughts e-mail me at work sometime. Would love to go over your control algorithm just to see how you are handling transitions.

Its a B16 Civic Si.
Hey zip: let me know when you go back to the dyno. I live 10 mins away and would love to watch.

Yeah sure, I'll give you a holler before the next session.

your best luck with the sc on a si is 180 whp with i/h/e. 160-170 whp with just the sc is right on the money.

It's normal that you've lost 28hp at 0psi. This is the cost for spinning the supercharger.

Will: yes, the controller uses PID, but the resolution for boost controlling was too precise (it was set in the thousandths res). It was over/under shooting the boost target as the rpms went up. We fixed this problem w/ a new software package (changing a couple of parameters and reducing some redundant code) and haven't had the problem since the dyno.
4 Devils: well I'm shooting for the double centennial because there are many SCSi's pushing around that mark. I forgot to have them hook up the wide band A/F during the runs. DOH!!
Rboosted717: I was going to run more but there was a muscle car there waiting to get his car on the dyno.
Civic TSI: normal? I haven't seen anybody test the JR manifold before on this board at 0psi. That's why it kinda surprised me.
